Suggestions for potential research cooperations:
My institute is a Governmental Research organization under the Indian Council of Medical Research under the Ministry of Heath and Family Welfare, Government of India. As an epidemiology research institute, we conduct epidemiological studies in various disease conditions, surveillance, health systems research, operational research as well as public health training. I am interested to be part of a collaborative study on 1) Childhood diarrhea especially Rotavirus since it is a major public health problem in india. The indigenous rotavirus vaccination is to be shortly launched as part of the UIP. I am interested to collaborate on molecular epidemiological aspects of enteric infections, microbiome analysis etc. 2) Leprosy research especially endemicity of leprosy since the transmission dynamics and environmental persistence of M leprae is not well understood/ documented. 3) Rickettsial infections. Undifferentiated fevers are common as diagnostics for many fever conditions are not readily available or used in most health care settings in India especially governmental facilities. in recent years several case reports of scrub typhus especially as outbreaks have been reported. I will be interested to partner with an established rickettsial expert / group to do studies in India to understand the molecular-epidemiological aspects of rickettsial infections and also undertake studies to develop and validate newer diagnostics.
