Agency for Innovation by Science and Technology

IWT (Agency for Innovation by Science and Technology) is a governmental agency established by the Flemish Government. Since innovation policy is a regional matter in Belgium, IWT-Flanders is the key organisation for support and promotion of R&D and innovation in Flanders. IWT-Flanders provided 300 million Euros in funding (2012).

InnovationsFonden was established as of 1 April 2014 by bringing together research, technology development and innovation grants from the Danish Council of Strategic Research, the Danish National Advanced Technology Foundation and the Danish Council for Technology and Innovation into one new powerful foundation. The overall aim of InnovationsFonden is to support the development of knowledge and technology, including advanced technology, in order to strengthen research and innovative solutions that may benefit growth and employment in Denmark.

The National Institute of Health Carlos III (ISCIII) is the main funding body for Biomedical and Health Research in Spain, as it manages the Strategic Action for Health Research (AES) of the National R&D Plan. In 2012, ISCIII allocated over 6.7 M€ to fund extramural infectious disease research.
