Suggestions for potential research cooperations:
The area of interest of our team is: 1. Evaluation of the effects and complications of immunosuppressive therapy on transplanted kidney 2. The prognostic value of assessing the histopathology of transplanted kidney on its long lasting function 3. The impact of oxidative stress on transplanted kidneys 4. The influence of CMV and Polyoma/BK infection on transplanted kidneys function and survival 5. The prevalence of HPV infection of the head and neck in patients after kidney transplantation under immunosuppression.
Any further information you consider relevant:
Research topics: impact of CMV infection and different stages of BK virus infection on kidney recipients’ immune status as well as kidney allograft long-term function. Our transplantation centre collaborates with local laboratory in terms of molecular screening for BK viruria and viremia, also in terms of molecular CMV infection diagnostics. Second field of interest is the prevalence of HPV infection of the head and neck in patients after kidney transplantation under immunosuppression. The outpatient clinic is currently carrying post-transplant follow- up for c.a. 450 recipients and is interested in providing clinical samples for advanced molecular studies on viral infections in kidney transplant recipients.
